Nexus offered a unique opportunity for dancers to celebrate their work and for audiences to share in a deeply personal exchange. It was a fusion of traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance, contemporary dance, physical theatre and hip hop with Flamenco, circus and puppetry.
Gerard Veltre and Phunktional devised and curated this piece, inspired by past collaborations with the Tony Yap Company, Flamenco dancer Tomas Arroquero, Circus Oz performer Rockie Stone, Aboriginal dancer and performer Jacob Boehme, dancer/choreographer Carlee Mellow and members of Queensland’s Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts.
Nexus delivered a sold-out season at the 2010 Midsumma Festival.
