The Noel Tovey Emerging Artist Achievement Award is presented annually to a young emerging artist involved in one of Phunktional’s Community Arts and Cultural Development projects, in recognition for their artistic achievements.
This award celebrates emerging artists that use the arts as a means to express themselves, survive hardship and become leaders in their community.
Winners of this national achievement award receive professional development related to their artistic specialties to support and nurture their artistic talent and leadership qualities.
The award is presented on stage by the esteemed Noel Tovey AM. Noel is an Indigenous actor, dancer, singer, director, choreographer, designer, writer and teacher that overcame extraordinary hardship to achieve a successful arts career spanning 54 years in Europe and Australia.
