In Partnership with Melbourne Juvenile Justice, Phunktonal ran a series of workshops from November 2007 till April 2008 leading to the creation of a dance performance called 'The Monk and the Thief.'

'The Monk and the Thief' was a contemporary performance created by the young men in detention. The show was based on a traditional story about a Monk who gives unconditional love to a thief. As a result of participating in the project one of the young men was able to complete a Certificate I in Dance for his high school studies.
